I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
Bolo Yeung vs Bruce Lee
June 26, 2019
In my quest to keep drawing characters with different silhouettes in action sequences, I've also come across the self challenge of trying to keep the speed lines looking "fresh". Meaning, to try and make them look different from piece to piece. Eventually, I may try to do those wacked out curved speed lines. But honestly...speed lines are MUCH harder to illustrate than one would think. At least to me, its more than just drawing a bunch of lines stacked on top of each other.
You have to think about the breaks in each line, the space between lines, and then put them in a position to help bring motion to the piece.
This original was done on a 11x14" piece of 2 ply bristol. Drawn with a 4H pencil, inked with Micron pens and colored with Copic Markers.
If you're paying attention, you'll notice that I gave Bruce a haircut from the pencil stage to the colored stage.
