Safe Imagination is Boring...at the NY Asian Film Festival
June 21, 2018
The New York Asian Film Festival is here! June 29th through July 12th, make your way over to Lincoln Center here in New York and watch some of the best films Asia has to offer!
And to top it off, you'll also get to see some great art too! I'll be taking part in a group art exhibition inspired by Asian cinema, Safe Imagination is Boring.
You can see my piece above that I'm contributing. This piece embodies what I've grown up watching and who were my super heroes. This was really the only way I was able to see other people that looked like me on television. From Chow Yun Fat to Bruce Lee to Gordon Liu and all the way over to The Five Deadly Venoms. When other kids in the neighborhood were playing Batman vs Superman, my brothers and I were choosing which Venom we'd be! Of course Toad was ALWAYS the most popular.
I'll be joined by some other great artists too though!
I've been blessed to have Yujin Lee curate and run this little show of ours. So if you're around Lincoln Center in New York during June 29 - July 12th, please check out the Furman Gallery to see what's up!
Each piece will be 32x32" in scale. And I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone else will be showing.
I'll eventually be offering prints of my piece measured at 13x19", so I'll have to reformat the art to fit horizontally. But it looks great so far!
