Crystar the Crystal Warrior...part 2
January 31, 2016
So early last year...my good friend Bernard Chang kept insisting that I start swapping out "black" lines in my art and convert them to color. He insisted it was easy enough for me to do, and kept trying to teach me how to do so.
I actually drew this piece over a year ago. It's old.
But....I really do LOVE Crystar...the whole universe from which he came from. So when I learned how to do this new way of coloring, this was the first piece I really ever wanted to go back and recolor.
For the most part...what's done is done for me. I'm not going back to redo anything.
But with Crystar....it was important to me to make all the black lines within his crystal form...become more subtle. And to ideally....help pop out anything that still remained black.
Above is the recolored version of this piece. Below is a jpg of both the old version(on the left) with the newer recolored one on the right.
Hopefully...you can see the difference....and hopefully you'll think the newer version is better.
Just for kicks, here's a copy of the pencil and inked versions.
